I was listening to Morning Ireland this morning, and they were interviewing Barry Cowen. Born and bred FFer.

1. I indirectly via the EU subsidise Ireland for years, fair enough.
2. Ireland creates jobs through low corporate tax, thus drawing away employment from other countries.
3. I go there, work there at a very low salary, no health insurance, high income tax, ludicrous rents and general prices.
4. Ireland does not pay into the EU from its new found wealth, instead invests in hm, the Spire, the LUAS, the port tunnel, the motorways without rest stops. Instead of tackling maybe a lack of production industry, thousands of junkies, sprawling housing estates, criminal families ruling a country with the population of a mid-sized city to name but a few.
5. And now for more support from the EU.
6. My pension has gone down the drain and the corrupt get paid shitloads to compensate for the absence from the Seanad. Hufuckingray.
On another a note to be perfectly honest, did the majority of the population not get the politicians it deserves? Why on earth did they never ask themselves about things that outsiders found blatantly obvious such as:

You always hear how a journalist has a great story on a politician who was caught cheating on his wife with a prostitute or who crashed into someone drunk and got away with it. You hear stories about them having bank accounts in the Cayman islands and how they took massive bribes for tolled road contract. But none of these get printed because they’re paid off and sold out. Especially the Irish Independent where it must be impossible to be impartial when you consider who owns it.
Newspapers used to be owned by news men. How they’re owned by business men who want us to influence how we think in order to protect their interests. That interest in the case of the Indo is free market capitalism at all costs.
When’s the last time you heard of a truly brilliant scoop born out of the hard investigative work of a real journo exposing loads of influential people?

The weight of evidence demonstrating the failure of our political and judicial systems has in my humble view reached a tipping point. I’m not a student of either so I don’t know what measures are periodically considered to conclude that these systems are functioning as intended, but this example is so blatant that I believe no other reasonable conclusion can be drawn. The two systems are fundamentally designed to deliver fairness (through the development and implementation of legislation). Both have clearly failed… are failing. I do not need law reviews or internal reports to explain this too me, or rather to obfuscate and mask the truth, in the same way that I don’t need a mechanic to look at a smashed up car to tell me that may not drive so good anymore… The systems are flawed.. They don’t work……..
