Book launch. Relax, not mine.

Bloggers and books, a winning combination, just ask anyone in the Sunday Times. They can’t get enough of that bloggy book goodness.
Ireland’s only Welsh blogger who takes half her name from a Fleetwood Mac song, Annie Rhiannon, has done the book thing. It launches on Thursday evening at 6pm in The Joinery in Stoneybatter, my second favourite kind of batter behind tempura.
It’s a book of photos and stuff. Annie says, “It’s all about my trip through America, or, as the gallery press release says:
“‘To the Left of the Midwest’ is an exhibition of photography from award-winning blogger Annie Atkins’s first book. Compiled on the railroads from California to Texas, this travelogue chronicles a personal journey through the small towns and backwaters of the United States during Obama’s election in late 2008.”
I’ve attached a picture of a fat cowboy on a horse.”
That is certainly a fat cowboy … poor horse. He should get a quad bike.
So, To the Left of the Midwest, Thursday, 6pm The Joinery, Stoneybatter. Be there or be Colin Coyle.

One girl that deserves a book deal. I may even attend.

I’m quite sure you’d be more than welcome.

She’s a kick ass designer too.
I would be there only I have something else on that evening. I’d be trying to guess who Twenty was but be shit cool and say nothing.

Nice one. Shall seek it out; there is a great photography buzz in the city at the moment

It’s a pity that Obama has also lived up to the old adage “In the end, everybody lets you down”.

in the dice bar recently and a few people said they’d been at a photo exhibition and saw a picture of me in my bike gear. that’s the problem with digital cameras – people aren’t worried about wasting film any more and take pictures of any old shite
July 20th, 2010 @ 5:29 pm
There is also the problem of shit amateurs thinking they are good. Digital technology has opened up the creative world to uncreative people.

you hit the nail on the head there HM. There’s a lot of crap out there. There is one guy though in the exhibition next door to The Lighthouse Cinema…think the place is called The Complex? Anyhow, one guy has some great stuff of housing developments during the boom which are basically wastelands now. And then there’s others that you allude to too HM which are dross. In my opinion.

Yay for Annie!

Jaysus, judging by the lack of comments, the regulars aren’t much into the art are they? Probably think it’s gay. Philistines the lot of ye.
July 20th, 2010 @ 8:02 pm
yous are all big gays, talking about arty stuff
July 20th, 2010 @ 8:07 pm
Anto, what’s all dah stuff hangin’ on de walls?
It’s Art Deco.
July 20th, 2010 @ 8:26 pm

It’s Art Garfunkel

Art Deco is an eclectic artistic and design style which had its origins in Paris in the first decades of the 20th century.
An arty fact
July 20th, 2010 @ 10:22 pm
It’s not just arty though, it’s funny bloggy too. And beautiful and Annie.
But what time does it start at? Someone said to me 6pm. Can that be right?
July 20th, 2010 @ 10:24 pm
Oh, it’s in the post. Apologies, I was paying attention.
*No I wasn’t.

HM – “I’ve attached a picture of a fat cowboy on a horse” “he should get a quadbike”…that kind of talk doesn’t really lend itself to contributions on the merits etc…fucking funny though
private eye had an article about a horse but I can’t find it; here’s one about light bulbs. the audio is like the speaking clock

Thank you for the shout-out!
Am horribly nervous about the whole thing. Art was more fun when it involved sitting behind my computer screen eating Fruit Corners and blogging.

GOOD LUCK WITH IT ANNIE – AND FAIR PLAY TO YOU FOR ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING BESIDES LURKING BEHIND A COMPUTER LIKE A LOT OF THE WASTERS ABOVE.

[...] Delighted to see Annie do this, she’s a wonderful photographer and an inspiring blogger. Sending that native American to collect her award at the Blog Awards that time was a bit precious though. But she still rocks. Turns out that native American wasn’t even genuine. Still, as I said, she rocks. Bought pigtails in the poundshop, could have made an effort, like. And a plastic axe. Honestly. Twenty has nice things to say too. [...]
