Do you think the often severe punishment of people downloading child pornography which is not actually harmful to anyone (but arguably themselves) is perhaps a smoke-and-mirrors ruse by government to maintain credibility, while covering up and diverting punishment of serious criminals - including the Catholic Priests who have been exposed widely around the world in recent years. Sounds a bit much but just thought of it. Probably crap but maybe they are related?
Best wishes to the author, I was looking up Catholic Church corrupt business practices out of curiosity, and through Google this is the first rational article I came across. Religious people are so often twisted and violent in expressing and defending their faith (what about trying simple basic truth for a change.)

By the way, what about writing a piece on that poet scumbag Cathal O Searcaigh and his little trips to Nepal and the apparent lack of condemnation from the aos dána and the general public at large (which I notice everyone has conveniently forgotten?)

Yeah in fairness that was a well written piece and I completely agree with what people were saying about Connell: if he really thinks some fucking promise he made years ago is more important than justice, especially for people who suffered like that he is one sick cunt and he has a lot to answer for with God seeing as he also said masses all those years.

Yeah I'm still Catholic, but I completely agree with you here.

Also people should know that in the interests of protecting its good name, the Church, while it treated the Blessed Sacrament with the reverence it's due, made an utter mockery of Confession. Not even touching on the abuse that would probably have gone on in some confession boxes, many priests played judge and jury instead of mediator and consequently would have made Confession for many people an ordeal to be endured instead of experiencing God's love and forgiveness. I wouldn't like some self righteous hypocritical shit fucking me into a rathole for doing things that at the very least he probably did himself at some point in his life, a few as we well know having done much much worse. There would have been some priests obviously who did as most priests are doing today, but i have a very strong feeling that it was control and obedience to them they wanted annd probably still want in many places today and not bringing people closer to God like they said and say. Abandoning mass, not baptizing, those are serious sins. But cutting back on fiancial contributions would be a good way to get some notice though..

Bit by bit it is crumbling, but it needs more people to challenge their families, neighbours, friends, co workers etc in a way that helps them to realise what they are supporting through their ongoing engagement with their church. Indoctrination will take a long time to counteract. But right is on our side. Keep pushing that door and let light, fresh air and ideas in.
