Viggo Mortensen seems to be an actor that many people like and respect, which is rare as most actors are complete cunts, yet pretty much all his films are shit. Especially ones directed by David Cronenburg.
Now there’s a guy whose head I’d like to inflate to the size of a spacehopper before sticking a knitting needle in it.

I’d like to see a good fight scene (to the death) between Viggo Mortensen and James Woods.
I’d have agreed until recently – watched “Good” – was superb.
Funniest one with Mortensen is that scene in Lord Of The Rings where he rides up to the gates of Mordor and says in a ridiculously squeaky voice:
‘..let the Lord of the Dark Land come forth, blah blah, and let justice be served on him, blah blah..’
Watching Jeff Goldblum act is like watching a tree act.

haha, yeah, he really doesn’t have an authoritative enough voice.
He turned in great performances in Appaloosa (average movie) and Eastern Promises (great movie). I hated him in the LOTR movies, but figure now he was just mis-cast. I thought he was grand in A history of Violence too, strange movie and I think people that disliked it would have no matter who was in it – that’s on Cronenberg not Mortensen.
Yeah, i thought it was alright too.
That scene in eastern promises where the Russian mob try to knife him in the sauna was right up there with the scarface chainsaw scene. Blew me away.
He’s in Carlito’s Way, which is pretty good despite the Joe Cocker soundtracking.
He looks terrible without the beard.
He looks terrible with it, too, but it’s a less creepy kind of terrible.

But Cronenberg’s one of the good ones Shivers… The Dead Zone… Dead Ringers… and the Mortensen films.
