The first step?

A report from the Irish Nightclub Association has called for longer opening hours. Hurrah.
However, it’s typical that they have to dress it up to show how much extra tax might be made from it instead of being able to say ‘You stupid cunts, closing nightclubs at 2am is more stupid than making Conor Lenihan Minister for Kebabs’.

why 4am in Dublin and 2.30am elsewhere?
July 14th, 2009 @ 3:32 pm
Of course the extra revenue will come from people going out, and not drinking extra. Can he say that with a straight face?
I couldn’t afford to drink all night in a Dublin Club. How much is a pint now? At my last count it was €5.20

I agree, what’s up with the 4am Dublin and 2:30am outside the capital?
Of course there’s going to be the rebuttal about having wild folks pouring out of clubs at 4am and making a nuisance of themselves, Garda numbers and that crap… It’s all bullshit because a quick trip to any nightclub on the continent that stays open till 5 or 6am will show that most folks still leave between 2-4am because they’re too mouldy for fuck all else.
Typical of this poxy country, when the government extend opening hours of nightclubs I’ll go extinct

Well there are people losing their jobs over the early closing times in clubs and also the €450 per night extention tax..which has to be applied for each weekmand for each night separately..Fucking Archaic!

Missed that about 4am for Dublin and 2.30 elsewhere. Not sure how. That’s a bit stupid, isn’t it?
July 14th, 2009 @ 3:45 pm
Would you expect anything different?
Stupid convoluted solutions for a simple dillema.
Let them open provided they are not causing any more hassel than they are currently for residents living in close proximity.

fuck no, we have cows to milk in the morning
July 14th, 2009 @ 3:51 pm
Dear Government
If you allow the pubs to stay open later I hereby promise not to get mouldy drunk trying to shove an unhealthy amount of booze into my gob before the shutters come down like I do now
Signed
Fucking Everybody

You couldn’t be encouraging people outside dublin to stay out till 4am. Who’d get up to milk the cows?
July 14th, 2009 @ 4:14 pm
Fuck you jojojo. Thats weird though, all those comments weren’t there a minute ago. There’s a mad thunder storm going on overhead, I think we’ve taken a hit
July 14th, 2009 @ 4:23 pm
So we country folk can’t stay up till 4am because we’ve to milk the cows but if you Dublin City fuckers stay up till 4am you’ll end up driving the country into the groun……wait, err…
July 14th, 2009 @ 4:33 pm
I’d say there’d be plenty of cows milked in Copperface’s at 4am
July 14th, 2009 @ 5:41 pm
So they’ll raise proportionately more taxes on people stupid enough to pay nightclub prices for their drink, and everyone else gets to stay out a bit later and still get a taxi home before the vomit-dribbling parade of Lost Souls. What’s the problem?
July 14th, 2009 @ 9:16 pm
There really is altogether too much government. Laws that benefit no-one except the juvenile egos of the law makers.
July 14th, 2009 @ 9:56 pm
Country cops just don’t like being out so late to trap the drunk drivers.

The real problem with Irish clubs is how alcohol-centric they are in the first place. I know plenty of people who’d be happy to go to a club that stopped serving alcohol at 4am but was allowed to stay open until 7 or 8 for the benefit of people who are their for the music (and by the music, I mean the drugs) rather than drinking.
I’ve never seen any kind of trouble (inside or outside) of the bigger clubs in London that stay open until 9 or 10am. The obvious reason is that anyone still standing at that hour is probably going to be off their mash on ecstasy pipes and not really in the mood for kicking in kebab shop windows.

And by “their”, I mean “there”. God damn it.

Ummmm drunken after nightclub kebabs
July 14th, 2009 @ 11:30 pm
Nice one.
I might manage to actually get my hole again, what with the two extra hours drinking..
