Are the canvassers out and about yet for the local/european elections?
I ask because none have called to my door yet. I’ve got some leaflets despite the sign on my door which says ‘No junk mail’.
Why do politicians think their half-arsed bumpf is any less junk than the dodgy clothes collection flyers or fast food menus?
Anyway, I’m looking forward to the canvassers this time around. Usually it’s a case of ‘Oh, it’s you. No thanks. Good day to you. I said good day to you’, but this time when FF and the Greens come around there’s just much ammunition it can’t fail to be hilarious japes and merrymaking.
But so far none have come. Has a canvasser come on you yet?

A bunch FFers called to the house while we were eating dinner last week,and in a shocking and somewhat arousing move,the missus told them to fuck off out of it and get a job..
By the time i got the video camera out to record this precious moment they were gone up the road..

Labour and the Shinners. FF and Green leaflets keep mysteriously appearing in the letterbox, even when we’re home. I think they’re afraid to knock. Pity, I have so much to tell them.

They called to my parents’ house about a month ago looking for support. My Dad politely answered the door, explained that both he and my mother were civil servants and that they “must be fucking joking” if they thought that they were going to get a vote. He really hates Zanu FF.

The Local FF guy came by the other Day. Guess who was with him but the Builder who “built” my House. When I say built I mean cobbled it together on the f*****G cheap. I was so busy telling them both where to go, I forget that I could have used it as an opportunity to drag both of them in and show them the quality workmanship. Roll on the Election cos i’m waiting.

I have two tactics.
1. If in a hurry or busy I tell all them they have my vote.
2. If up for a scrap, I ask them which TD they are related to.

They are all farmers down my way and I don’t want them traeding cowshite up my driveway. However our local Green was whining in the local paper about the topical and important point that 100,000 East Coasters are going to lose free access to the BBC because they are moving to digital in the UK. Not to put to fine a point on it I have told her flunky that the freeloading pikey bastards had better shufty on across the water and pay their outstanding licence fee. She of course was reluctant to comment on her unwavering support for unsustainable housing development spring up with adeaqute schools or even water supplies, the lack of decent hospital facilities and the plans to close the closest A&E, or perhaps the 1 mile bottleneck on the N11 that has been promised funding for 11 years only to have it withdrawn because Martin Cullens helicopter bill was too high. Fucking useless the lot of them.

Twenty, you need a sign that says “NO LEAFLETS”. Junk mail is too subjective: “hmmm, I’m paid to deliver these leaflets so I don’t consider them junk mail. In they go!”.
Also works: if you see them coming, hold open the letterbox and growl as they come up your path. They will never come again.

I am ready though!
We are planning to invite them in and waste at least an hour of their canvassing time.
It’s the only bit of revenge we have left, that and the ballot box.
We will have four votes in our house this year.
FF will get 0.
Greens will get 0.
We will vote though.

Two FFers came last night. Cllr Christy O’ Sullivan Jnr and his sister.
Christopher O’ Sullivan Jnr – ‘co-opted’ onto Clonakilty town council by some dirty sleight of hand after his father Christy Snr was elected TD in 07 – having himself been parachuted in as the Dail candidate by Bertie Ahern over and above the head of the local favourite, Donal O’ Rourke. Christy Jnr proceeded to spend a year in Australia following his co-option. There was a furore about it locally. David Young, the presenter of West Cork Today had a few programmes about it and has now been dropped by UTV station without explanation or notice. As if all this wasn’t bad enough, the step daughter of Christy Snr has now also been parachuted in by FF HQ as a County Council candidate against the wishes of the four people who had already committed to run. They have all four pulled out in protest. Christy Snr was recently done for drink driving and, having been caught, was complaining that the drink driving laws were two strict, that people should be allowed a couple of pints before driving. The guy is barely able to string two words together at the best of times – the classic FF culchie TD, up from the sticks to go through the lobby as ordered. I want to know what the dirt is on the O’ Sullivan clan. Why are they receiving such preferential treatment.
Anyway, you can imagine the reception Christy Jnr got from this household when he came round last night…

OK, so FG haven’t had as much time in office , so it’s not so immediately obvious. But look at the last two cycles in the UK – Tories in power, corrupt and complacent, people thinking exactly the same, New Labour come along …. after a generation people are saying the same about them as they said about the Tories and if we have a couple of Tory Governments people will forget what shits Labour were and start longing for them back in power. You really want Enda Kenny in power?
So – voting for the opposition – you just keep the cycle going. Spoil your ballots by writing “all crooks and cunts” .

The ‘dirt’ Christopher jnr and the entire “O’Sulliavn clan” is that they are nice genuine people and thats why they have both got elected…. simple as… no bullshit, the voters voted for them because they wanted to and thats democracy…. fair play I say… If they were such a rotten bunch then noone would have voted for them!
