Fuck you Cowen and shame on RTE

RTE ran a news story on Monday night about the prankster who hung portraits of Brian Cowen in the National Gallery. It was a legitimate story covered in many other places.
Brian Cowen - fat, humourless cunt
Cowen and Fianna Fail had a meltdown though and rang RTE to complain. They demanded the story be removed from the RTE website, and it was. They demanded the clip of the news item be removed and it was. They demanded it be removed from the archives, and it was.
They also demanded an apology be made on air and it was. Pathetic stuff from RTE, truly spineless, but then this is the same organisation that allowed that wretched cunt Beverly Flynn to get away without paying back all the money she owed. No balls whatsoever.
FF’s action , however, was bullying, pure and simple. You’d think if Brian Cowen was going to be embarrassed by something it’d be by what a shit Taoiseach he is and what a bunch of useless cunts he’s supposedly leading in government. Let’s face it, in the history of the state this administration will go down in history as the worst ever. Incompetent, lying, hapless, ineffective, crooked, self-important, reprehensible cunts the whole lot of them.
This is a spectacular own goal by Cowen and by Fianna Fail. When you thought their stock couldn’t get any lower they amaze you with something like this. It could even have been a great chance for Cowen to show he’s got something about him by laughing it off as the joke it is, but instead he’s made a huge mountain out of what should have been a fairly small molehill.
He looks like a contemptible bully and when the government are demanding that Cathal Goan, RTE’s Director-General, be sacked over something like this when they’re humming and hawing over a crooked bastard like Michael Fingleton and his multi-million salary and pension payments then it tells you everything you need to know about them.
They are dirt, pure and simple, and these are the people that are supposed to get us out of the mess we’re in? Jesus Christ, we’re seriously, seriously fucked here folks.
This is a story that deserves as much coverage as possible because it just shows where Fianna Fail and Brian Cowen’s priorities lie. Public image is more important than real issues.
But what’s left of the public image now is something you’d scrape off the bottom of your shoe with an stick, and gag while you were doing it. And you know what? It’s fucking marvellous to see him and them make such complete and utter cunts of themselves. They look like prize fools and it’s fantastic. The public should see this side of him and his snivelling lackeys.
His head needs to be photoshopped onto the most hideous pictures you can find. Can we make it a meme?
Who can produce the most horrible, foul, ugly picture of Cowen? Come on Blogopolis, you know you can do it.

Bit too late now for fianna fail to try and make out they are some sort of political afficionados beyond ridicule. The country is buggered, the celtic tiger is barely a miaow in our memories, and as if things weren’t bad enough, the government is continuing to make a hames of “fixing” it.
Fair dues to the artist, a piss take of these proportions is exactly what we need…. Especially of Biffo – very true to life images I thought…

It’s only right that RTE be made apologise. This is our Taoiseach, somebody who deserves our respect and RTE ridiculed him. I would say the same thing if such pictures were produced of Enda Kenny or Eamonn Gilmore.
We must maintain a modicum of decency and respect in our society and if heavy-handedness is the way to go about then so be it.
The government must govern, it must lead, it is in charge and it, and only it, should dictate what is acceptable and what is not. Clearly the Cowen pictures crossed the line and I’m glad that the party has shown the strength of character to stand up to it.

The government of the day can tell RTE to bend over any time they want. Eamon Ryan (GP) appointed the board just a few weeks ago. RTE is short €68m this year. Anytime they want a license increase the government has to approve it. That’s the way it is.
It is an absolute disgrace that political leverage has been exerted on RTE forcing it to apologise for airing a legitimate news item, and to alter the historical record by removing it.
Also, Garda time is being wasted in pursuit of the ‘perpetrator’ of the stunt – with trumped up charges along the lines of incitement, indecency and criminal damage. I have no doubt that this is because of political pressure on the Garda.
When your state broadcaster and your police force are subjected to political pressure then you know your country is in trouble.
If Eamon Ryan approves of this then he stands for nothing, he should resign.

From what I saw of it Vincent Browne gave the TV3 Handbook reaction to anything concerning RTE, showing loyalty to his employer rather than principle. The story had long since moved on from news coverage of an audacious stunt to the Government Press Secretary’s leaning on RTE and the “powers that be” sending a detective to TodayFM.

Brian Cowen is an intelligent, articulate politician. I for one found the images very offensive. My heart goes out to his wife, daughters and mother on this occasion. I don’t for one minute buy the poor artist wanting to make a name for him/herself argument. In my humble opinion this escapade was orchestrated by someone other than the artist. Twenty had an image of Brian Cowen wielding a chainsaw up on his blog last year, it was a funny picture. I don’t see either of the offending images as funny. He can’t be lambasted for his intellect so therefore he’s ridiculed for being fat. It says it all.
As for RTE they should have said some viewers may find the images offensive, because some do.
Anybody any ideas as to who might commission such a stunt.

I would not be as offended if the images had arrived in my inbox, or were hanging on the railings on Stephen’s Green, it’s the fact that one appeared in the National Gallery and the ensuing hullabaloo blew it out of all proportion and drew attension to the images. Guerilla art is a bit thin on the ground around these parts.
I agree FF are a shower of c*nts, even their foot soldiers have an air of superiority about them, most think they’re a cut above the rest of us. I do love to goad them over the bould Charlie and his bit of crumpet after all these years.

What does it matter where the images were placed?
The fact that the supposed Leader of this nation set the cops on the artist and insisted on a grovelling apologyform the national broadcaster is why people are dragging the arse out of it.

What I think you are failing to understand Ed, is that this isn’t about Brian Cowen being fat (even though he is, look at the man!) this is about the Government using undue state powers to determine what is and what isn’t news, using scarce police resources to track down the artist of two PAINTINGS when there are 100′s of more important things they could be doing and putting illegal pressure on an independent commercial radio station to sate the “powers that be” and their thirst for revenge. If that’s the man you elected then fucking hell, god help democracy in this country.

Did any of you see the face of Pat Kenny Friday night when the panel member managed to slip in the word squatting with regard to the Brian Cowen paintings, the look on his face was priceless, if ever a TV presenter was said to be gobsmacked. Mary O’Radox was her usual self.
