Belgian baby stabber

Posted on | January 24, 2009 | 37 Comments

I know there are many people who are trenchantly opposed to the death sentence, but can somebody please explain to me why any society should bear the burden, financial or otherwise, for someone who would stab babies to death?

He was mentally ill and didn’t receive proper help. The state failed him and has to bear some responsibility,if he was thatpsychotic ,he should have been in hospital.

I am not for one second condoning his actions btw ,but speaking as someone who has a brother with schizophrenia,i would say that it takes alot of neglect for someone to go into a state that ends up in a brutal and senseless murder like this.

My bro is ok for the most part and the most gentle and placid person i know, but if there is a tendancy in someone for violence then being not treated for the illness can make that person do unspeakable things… I hope im explaining myself properly..
When something happens like this,i think of my bro because he feels that stories like this marginilise people with his illness..
my two cents for what its worth.

Well, that would give you a different perspective all right.

And is it just me or is Belgium one of the most sinister places on earth?

Belgium is the European country of paedophilia, they were supposed to pass on the title years ago but they found it too hard…
Plus all that chocolate has to be used up somehow..

I have to stop you there. You can’t go calling a whole nation cunts, especially when the nation concerned produces the finest cheap beer in the World.
Let’s hear it for the Belgians!

    Oh, wait a minute….
Dutch Gold’. That’s from Holland, isn’t it?

    Fuckin’ Belgians.
    Shower of cunts!

The title does get passed between Belgium, Ireland and Austria, winning the title means competing for a trophy known as the Herod Cup, it’s a bit like the Tommy Murphy(Slab Murphy)Cup in GAA.

Belgium is in cahoots with Leitrim to fill the world with cuntitude.

A terrible tragedy, but no amount of punishment will bring the victims back to life. Sadly.

Let’s wait for the results of the police investigation, but my guess is that the guy is just off his rocker and no one noticed in time.

What’s really scary is that, I suppose, this could happen to any of us at any time. If he really is nuts, then the humane thing to do is keep him in an institution where he can harm no one else.

If, on the other hand, he is bad rather than mad,his fellow-inmates in prison will probably take care of him.

I have two sons, if anyone harmed them, I would want them killed.

This is precisely why I should have no say in what happens.

The death sentence as a punishment demeans us.

The death sentence as a deterrent, especially in this case, would have made no difference.

You’re becoming all Daily Mail on us again twenty, stop it or I’ll put you on the bold step.

Belgium is a sinister cunt-filled place though.

I think I know what you’re getting at, Twenty.

Agreed with Fintan that no amount of punishment for the criminal wipes clean the damage to the victim, but when someone is sentanced to life imprisonment, and particularly when that person committed their crime in sound mind, why should the taxpayer waste money feeding and sheltering the fucker for the next 60 years?

In this case, the criminal was severly disturbed and therefore cannot be held accountable… but God knows how many people will never experience happiness again because of his actions. Broken people create other broken people. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.

Forgive me, but the amount of horrible events in the news this past week has put me in a very dark state of mind.

Sooo another nut bag goes off the rails everyone remeber crazy bus knife guy last year? I personaly am against the death penalty mostly for one reason way to many people have been jailed for crimes that they did not commit because the cops are just to fucking lazy to do their jobs right. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/wrongfullyconvicted/
For example this poor fucker William Mullins-Johnson he was convicted of raping and killing his 4 year old neice and spent 12 years in jail guess what He didnt do it but the police and the crown totaly destroyed his family and his life.
That is the only reason I am against the death penalty.. But I totaly understand why someone like a baby killer should be killed out right!

It’s not Daily Mail, I just think some people are utterly worthless and should be killed.

It’s such a shame I have no real interest in politics.

It is Daily Mailing When you dont have all the details. if he was mental, then he cant help it.
If he did it for other reasons, then I just dont know how you would punish him… How did he get into the creche? Did he have kids there? I suppose i should read up on it..

Mentally ill or not, someone like this shouldn’t be around. Animals have it right at time, if they sense something wrong at the birth, they kill the young. But not humans, instead we give it a chance. And look what happens. Not even claiming that all damaged will hurt a child, but fuck already. Stop being pussies and sympathizing with the ill. He fucking stabbed children. Even if just one, that is reason enough to do something.

It’s grossly upsetting though but I’m against the death penalty in any circumstance. I am however, open to having the fucker accidently dropped off somewhere, blindfolded with “I’m the baby stabber” printed on his T-Shirt.

Fuck Belgian baby stabbers.barry egan(capitals don’t apply for such a non-entity)deserves the death penalty.
A week after his “friend” and best man commits suicide, this jerk feels fit to “share all” in 2 sections on the Independent.
    I feel ill.

I was in a McDonald’s this morning, on my way home from work. They have complimentary copies of the Independent there, but this morning I didn’t bother reading it, knowing that it’s only going to put me in bad humour.
Usually it’s that thick cunt Brendan O’Connor that does the trick, with his ‘I like it up the hole’ love of Bertie, but jeezus Lazlo, that egan fucker sounds just as bad, if not worse.
I’m going to Burger King in future.

It says that he has no history of mental illness here: <a href=”http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/265895″ I would make him fluff Ray Foley for his desperate-publicity-attempt-home-sex-movie, worse than death that’d be.

I’m normally against the death penalty, but I’d make an exception for that evil bastard.

They should let the parents have a go at him like in Margaret Atwood’s “Handmaid’s Tale” when the state let the Handmaids tear a rapist apart.

Hold on, “I’m not normally in favour of the death penalty but…”

You either favour it or you don’t and although I understand completely the desire to want to hang this guy by his spleen from the nearest telegraph pole, you either are for, or against this course of justice / retribution / punishment / revenge.

I don’t believe in killing people, full stop. I think it is an intellectual cop-out to start saying well let’s not kill anyone, except….

Killing people is wrong, I think, although as I said, I understand why people would argue the opposite, which is why we need an impartial arbiter of justice and punishment.

“explain to me why any society should bear the burden, financial or otherwise, for someone who would stab babies to death?”

I’m not going to get into the whole morality debate over the death penalty but from a strictly financial standpoint as you brought up, it costs MORE to go through all the trials and paper work and paying judges/lawyers, ect than it does keeping someone in jail for the rest of their lives.

Besides, a man that decides to stab babies is OBVIOUSLY not in the right state of mind. (that may be a dramatic understatement) This man should never see the outside world–or any babies–ever again but an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind

Now lads, main story aside, everything has been said there…I cried my eyes out when I heard but how to deal with that imbecile or a society that breeds them, I dunno. What really pisses me off in these comments though: Yeah what about Belgium, ever been there, know anyone from there? It is no better or worse than anywhere else. Is it just an Irish inferiority thing that makes you say this? For crying out loud, look at your own doorstep! Plenty of paedos there for such a small country.
