Tony Hart RIP

They’re dropping like flies. First Ricardo, now Tony Hart.

He made me want to be an artist (at least for the duration of his TV show). Sadly the fact that I’m nothing more than a mediocre doodler stood in the way of such ambitions.

First there was Vision On, then Hart Beat, and it was on Tony Hart’s shows that we saw Morph (produced by Aardman who went on to bring us Wallace and Gromit).

But for me what stands out most is The Gallery. Every week the camera would pan across a series of artworks produced by the kids who watched the show and who, judging by their contributions, were all outrageously handicapped.

I assume if there’s music at Tony Hart’s funeral that this will be it:

Ah, so sad! Though he was pretty elderly, I presume. He wasn’t exactly young when we were wee.
