So John McCain’s running mate’s 17 year old daughter is pregnant.
Oh. My. Gawd.
But don’t worry, puritan bible belt folks. She’s going to marry the guy who knocked her up. Whether she likes it or not!
I mean, 17 is old enough to make decisions like that, isn’t it? Of course it is. Especially when Mommy’s trying to help a scatty old cunt to get to the White House.

I read about this in a link Medbh posted earlier.
My initial thoughts were that it shouldn’t matter a fuck if her teenage daughter is pregnant.
Then I remembered the flat-earth, big-endian neanderthals who typically vote republican.

The pregnancy is hardly a big deal. You just get the feeling that the marriage is being forced on her (and him) for political reasons.

I agree the announcement of the marriage was nothing more than a political stunt but I would be surprised if they actually get married.
The republican spin doctors know this will all be forgotten about as soon as Bush increases the terror alert status to red or Charlie Sheen is spotted wearing a hooker like a horse’s feed bag.
Even if it stays front page news for months, the election is only 9 weeks away and of course with Mommy’s campaigning commitments you couldn’t possibly hold the wedding before the election.
After the election the race will be won or lost - and Palin (and the republicans) won’t give a shite either way.
I think the statement of intent will be more than enough to calm the waters with the bible belt voters.

Maybe she does like it.
And given she’s knocked up, what would you rather she decided? If 17 is old enough to decide to become a single mother, then it’s certainly old enough to decide to become a non-single mother.
P.S. I don’t actually live in the Bible belt, unless some serious demographic changes have been happening in Greater Manchester in the last hour or so, but I do like the Puritans.
