Best ride I ever had was with a girl from Iceland (the country not the fucking shop).

I'm forty fucking two on Monday and these fuckers are saying that I can't buy a bottle of wine/whiskey/whatever after 10:00pm ?

what the fuck is wrong with this fucking place?

Desigee, the guards cant under any circumstances shut down a pub. The only man who can do that is the fire chief! And calling the guards to a civil dispute is a waste of time as they have no jurisdiction. The Guards can of course object to the renewal of your liqour license, so better not to piss them off!! (of course they can close it down if it is open illegally, ie without license or after hours)

If you really think that shifting the closing time for purchase of alcohol to bring to your own home will have *any* effect upon our culture of binge drinking, you're obviously so high on lattes and bagels that the outside world no longer provokes sane reactions in yourself.

I'd propose counter examples of "normal" countries where licencing is so lax that

- people can buy alcohol 24 hours a day
- the world does not end

but I feel the irony would be somewhat lost on the recipients.

Of course we have a serious problem with our drinking culture, but do you really have any belief that licencing laws can affect it in a positive manner?

I'm going to shut up in a second but here's a useful guide when it comes to public policy debates on health issues;

If you hear anyone using the old 'won't somebody please consider the children' line you are listening to a fraud.

No one gives a shite about kids other than their own. And its hard enough to learn to give a shite about your own.
