Now we know who they are. From Breakingnews.ie:
Ireland’s newest millionaires went underground today as lotto fever hit Carlow town.
Never to be out-scooped though I can exclusively bring you a picture of one of the winners. After the jump…

Wombles have all the luck.

Well-er, back to the Wombles;
Did you know that the leader of the Wombles band used to demand sexual favours from the rest of the group if they ever came home without finding a winning Lotto ticket that had been left behind by the ‘Everyday Folk’?
Hence the term ‘Batty Boy’.

I sincerely wish that made some kind of sense to me.

Did you know that three tracks on Never Mind The Bollocks by the Sex Pistols were produced by the guitarist from The Wombles? (Problems, Pretty Vacant & No Feelings.)

Was it here someone pointed out that the Wombles were the original Freegans?
June 30th, 2008 @ 10:54 pm
did you know a production credit for never mind the bollocks would ruin a music producers CV?

Yeah, but this guy (Chris Spedding) had the royalties for his session work with the Bay City Rollers & 100s of others to fall back on. And he toured as a member of Roxy Music. And he had a solo career.
And a motorbike, apparently.
There’s some great Womble videos on YouTube.*
*No, they’re shite really.

Sixteen?! I confidently predict litigation when 15 of them try to gyp the guy who forgot to pay his dues this week.
Growing practice area down the bar.

i’ll never forget the day my son told me that tellytubbies was too childish for him (sigh) , I look forward to the day when I can tell him that I’m disenchanted with poverty , now that the lotto millions are nestling in my account.

MB, Chris Spedding produced early demos of those three tracks (and played the lead on them, though it’s often been denied), but not the definitive versions on NMTB.
Punk rock pedant. That’s me.

Ok, GOS, you’re right, but it just doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it?
Still, I had a feeling that if I posted rubbish here that someone would come along and clean it up.
