I was going to vote yes but Giscard D’Estaing let it slip that they’re trying to put one over on us – it’s a Euro constitution by the back door (Google it).

Also all those posters I see around usually with some fat smug Fianna Failers face on it – “Good for Europe – Good for Ireland” – no I think they should read “Good for Europe – Good for me getting a cushy job in Brussels at your expense when my political career is washed up in this country”

Well said HM. You’re absolutely spot on with the Sinn Fein thing too. Their stormtroopers are no longer knee capping and beating, they’re working very hard in housing estates that other politicians will not even venture into, and they will get many people that wouldn’t have bothered to vote before out to vote for them. It’s scary!

Just on the Sinn Fein thing…

I couldn’t give a bollox about them and don’t support them but don’t make the mistake of bandwagon jumping because it’s the thing to do. Sinn Fein are highly organised and are making big inroads in working class estates and also with new immigrants who are not familiar with their background. They are re-grouping and will be a force to reckon with in the future.

To make the usual remarks about knee capping and bank robberies these days is naive and uninformed and suits them down to the ground. It gives them something to hide behind, something to distract everyone.

And to vote Yes because Sinn Fein are in the No camp is very silly indeed. That is parochial and very retarded thinking.

Unfortunately that’s where most of them stayed during polling!

While I am very much Pro-Europe, for me its a ‘No’, purely for the fact the after the Nice rejection Europe’s governments are trying to sneak the same treaty through without a popular vote. I feel we owe it to the people of the rest of Europe to vote ‘NO’.

And as for some of the European politicians saying that a NO vote would have dire consequences for Ireland, who do they think they’re dealing with? The last thing you say to an Irishman is ‘Do that and there’ll be trouble’.

To not vote NO because of Sinn Féin’s involvement is just as stupid as not voting YES because of Fianna Fáil.
Given that you own, or sit near a computer with an internet connection, it is unlikely that you have ever even met someone from Sinn Fein.
-Funnily enough, I’ve met a few Shinners over the last few years, having never known any before, and it was all because I was repairing their computers.
