This fund…

…to find Madeleine McCann. So far nearly £100,000 has been donated to the fund to find the girl of the parents who reportedly earn £200,000 a year between them.
What happens to this money if they find her? Do they go through it contribution by contribution and pay it back? What happens if they don’t find her? Do the parents use this money to stay in Portugal forever?
It’s sad that as time goes by more and more questions are raised by this extradordinarily public saga and there appears to be less chance of answering the one question that really matters – What happened to her?

Its sad but it looks very unlikely that they will see their daughter again. With the close proximity to routes to Africa/Asia etc..she may have left Portugal a long while ago.I read somewhere that the family members who’re in charge of the fund are setting up a charity in the childs name and any money unused in this case will be returned and used to search for other missing children..

Well if that’s true then fair enough.

“What happens to this money if they find her?”
They can always use the money for parenting classes.

I agree Fat Sparrow.
I feel sorry for them, but not half as sorry as I feel for the child.

i just find the whole case a bit strange. it would seem from the statistics that i’ve been able to find that most children are abducted by family or someone they know, and even where it has been a stranger, most of the children have been found. less than a third of abduction attempts by strangers succeed. and if madeleine has been killed, it would seem that more than 95% of children killed are killed by their parents or members of their family. her parents just seem too calm or detatched from the whole thing any time i’ve seen them on the telly. could be shock or the stiff upper lip syndrome, but i’m wondering if anyone has looked at them as possible suspects?

Apparently a British ex-pat who lives in Spain and was holidaying in Morocco saw a girl matching Madeleine’s description who said: “Can I see my mummy now?” to a man at a gas station. On returning to Spain she saw all the Madeleine McCann stuff and phoned the Spanish police 7 times, but they didn’t register her complaint or something. She then phoned the Leceistershire police and they said they’d get back to her, and they didn’t! So it’s possible that the little girl is in North Africa.

Conspiracy nutjob time!!!!
The push right from the start that Madeleine had been abducted.
Despite this thought/fear, the 2 hour delay in calling the police.
The initial stories of shutter being broken and doors being locked, when in fact they weren’t.
The initial stories of frequent checks, but restaurant staff say they never left the table.
The reason then being given for unlocked doors as fear of fire, yet not keeping themselves in a position to actually see the doors.
The reason for leaving the children being given as they thought the resort had CCTV.
The fact that the very next day, a family friend offers £100K reward.
The almost resigned expression of the parents. The push for routine and
return to normality.
The use of past tense x3 by Mr McCann in the last press conference.
The focus on the McCanns and indeed the whole family rather than Madeleine herself.
The 4 week time limit on the reward money.
Just little things that don’t quite fit right.

Scuttery, you don’t think….?

I can’t conceive of any reason to think that it’s likely she’s been trafficked to Asia or Africa. Human trafficking works the other way, titillating fantasies of white slavery notwithstanding.
Seriously, this is not an earth-shatteringly unprecedented event. If a child goes missing under circumstances like this, wouldn’t you say the chances are simply that she was abducted, abused, and murdered by someone based in the area? There’s no need to go looking for conspiracies and slow boats to China.

I’m with you. There’s something not right about the whole thing.

Christ on a bike! I was beginning to think that I was the only one who thought this whole thing was surreal.
Thanks for restoring my faith.

I’m not in the least suspicious of the parents demeanor..they’d be likely to be in shock..although that would wear off..its just that the comment regarding the fact that abductors are usually people known to them..it is sort of strange isn’t it.

What a cunt you are….”what happens to the money??” I doubt if I lost my daughter like this (no matter how much of a stupid selfish geebag you need to be) I don’t think Portugal would interest me too much more. What do you think?? They may be the most fucking stupid pair of cunts ever, but I really don’t think they’re in it for the cash…..I could be of course be wrong…but I really doubt it. So relax you fuckbag and focus your (negative) energies back on that Bertie cunt (that’s his real name!!)

I was only asking. I got an answer in the first comment and that was that. Relax.

Ben – hate to tell you this, but the idea among a lot of baboons with AIDS in Africa is that if they have sex with a guarenteed virgin they will be cured…since a lot of faimilies are now ‘arranging’ for their very young daughters to be deflowered locally, the price for a white middle class European girl will be through the moon… and Cantona – its a ligitimate fucking question that Twenty is asking about the money – an if you don’t like it start your own fuckin’ blog!

As with most cases you can phone in a hot tip and have it put to the side for months as they get so many cranks tips, by then its too late, its already is too late for the poor wee gurl.
The McCanns to me seemed like they were covering a blunder they were caught in some lie and back tracked, and for some reason it was just ignored by the press because anyone who asks questions in this case always gets some prick getting outraged that they don’t follow blindly along with the rest.

“The McCanns to me seemed like they were covering a blunder they were caught in some lie and back tracked.”
Yeah, I think this is the case, most probably that they were gone for a lot longer than half an hour at a time.

Sad fact is if the McCann’s were working class, and had been in the pub rather than a restaurant, getting pissed rather than eating tapas or whatever the fuck it was they were scoffing while their four yerar old was left in charge of their baby twins (fuck me just say it to yourself – it’s madness!), they’d have been hung out to dry by the media.
